PrEP as a biomedical prevention tool is 99% effective in preventing HIV transmission, yet a majority of people who could benefit are not accessing PrEP. Delivering PrEP care in pharmacies represents an important opportunity to expand access to HIV prevention services essential to ending the epidemic.
In this webinar, Maria Lopez PharmD and Rupa Patel MD will present an overview of pharmacy-based PrEP delivery and describe existing innovative models of pharmacy-based PrEP care. Dr. Lopez and Dr. Patel will share lessons learned from their implementation experiences that can be applied to Health Departments, CBOs, healthcare organizations, and pharmacies interested in developing innovative approaches to PrEP services.
Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
-
Summarize pharmacists’ scope of practice for HIV prevention services, including PrEP
-
List 2 delivery models for pharmacy-delivered PrEP
-
Describe 3 challenges that existing pharmacy-based PrEP programs encountered and strategies to address them
